For this workshop, you will be choosing a pattern, breaking it down, and reassembling it into something new!
All you need:
- 8x8 piece of paper with a pattern (scrapbooking, hand-drawn, etc)
- 8x8 piece of paper or cardboard to anchor your new pattern
- glue (I used a glue pen and it worked wonderfully)
- cutting apparatus (scissors, papercutter, punch)
Once you have chosen your pattern, now is the time to take it apart! Depending on your pattern, you may do squares (as I did), strips, circles , or anything else you can think of. I think the possibilities are endless on how you deconstruct your pattern.
Once you have finished and you have ALL of your pieces, it is now time to put together! You may want to play around with how you want to glue it back together or you may want to close your eyes and pick a piece. I think part of it depends on your mood and part of it depends on your pattern. Basically, this is your thing and you do how you do.
I placed my finished piece in my 8x8 frame and hung it on my wall. You can add yours to your fridge amongst your kids' pieces. Just pick a place and show it off!
You could try using two patterns, one neutral and one in color and mix the two. See how differently your final products turn out and then hang them side-by-side for a little art installation in your house!
